Gardening used to be one of my favorite hobbies! Now I think it it's
secondary to cooking and astronomy. During the spring and summer months,
I like
to spend time out in the garden. It is usually very quiet outside; just
me and mother nature. My garden consists of annuals and perennials flowers
as
well as an abundance of herbs, rosemary, thyme, chives, tarragon, sage,
parsley, and basil.
Some
of my favorite flowers are black-eyed susans, cone flowers (purple and
white), delphinium, coreopsis, phlox and a variety of annuals. Also
found
in my garden are hot peppers and butterfly bushes.. Most of my flowers
are perennials that will attract butterflies, birds, and bees.
Below are a few links that I find helpful in my research for quality plants that fit the growing conditions in the location where I plant. I try to consider the amount of light that the plant will get, the type of soil where the plant will go, and the other plants adjacent to the site.
Monrovia has
a very nice line of shrubs and flowers. To see some of the selections
of flowers and shrubs in person, go to Merrified
Garden Center.
The American Horticulture
Society is a great reference site as is GardenNet.
